What resin printer to buy

I have an Elegoo Jupiter SE which is one of the larger printers. Great for the cost, on Amazon for $640. You'll definitely be able to print some nice cosplay pieces. I wouldn't recommend going much lower, as you're going to struggle fitting stuff on even medium size printers, even if you break it up into multiple pieces. For example, the Jupiter SE isn't big enough to print out a helmet in one go, you definitely have to break it up, so if my printer was any smaller I'd have a real hard time. There's only couple options in this size range. Anycubic makes the Max 7 I think is what it's called, about 100 bucks more. Slightly newer with better features. Phrozen makes the Mega 8KS, that's the biggest you'll find on the consumer side. Probably a bit over kill, also almost double the price. I also print up to 1/4 scale figures on my Jupiter and while I could print a lot of pieces on my smaller printer because they're all separated, a lot of pieces can't fit and cutting them further is a pain, such as capes or bases.

Just Unpacked my new Jupiter SE - Tell me what you like and hate about it

I have bothe versions. 5 original Jupiters and 3 SE versions. I HATE the fact that I have to pull the lids off the top. The door on the other was sooooooo much better. Also, there’s no way to easily make a hook to tilt the build plate to drain the plate like the old Jupiter. I will be working on designing a piece to allow me to do that. Other than that, it prints really nice just like the old Jupiter did. I do like it a lot despite those issues. Oh, and they went to a lead screw instead of a ball screw which I’m unhappy about as well.

Jupiter SE vs Saturn 4 Ultra 16K as first printer?

My first printer was a smaller one and I regretted it pretty quickly. Got a medium one soon after and loved it (same size as the S4U). I then started printing 1/4 scale figures, and while I could do some particular models on my medium size printer I couldn't do as much as I wanted to. Got the Jupiter SE and I love it. It's simple, but works. The SE isn't THAT much bigger than the S4U, so if size of the model isn't a concern rather you want to print higher quantity, I would just go with the S4U. But if you think you may want to do bigger models in the future, might as well get a larger printer now. I would wait for the Jupiter 2's price to be announced, as it will be much better quality than the SE. I love my SE, but I do get jealous at all these high resolution screens on other printers lol. Detail difference is not something you're gonna notice unless you have a print from each printer side by side.
