Beginner 3d printer

ELEGOO Centauri Carbon/ Centauri Carbon 2 is your best value/ money in that price range. Same price point as a Bambu A1 basically, but it's a fully enclosed CoreXY. You lose some convenience features (quick swap nozzles, so a nozzle swap takes 5 min instead of 15 seconds, phone app printing, the slicer is a bit worse but tbh both Bambu's and Elegoo's slicer are just a worse, slightly reskinned version of Orca Slicer, and you can just use Orca for either [only if you downgrade firmware or use LAN-only on the Bambu though]). The A1 is a great printer, but I do think the Centauri Carbon just outclasses it at it's price point from a pure hardware perspective. In terms of convenience factors Bambu is clearly ahead of everyone currently, though those convenience factors come at the cost of a pretty closed ecosystem, which is one of the things I really, really dislike about them. If you want to print multicolour (honestly it's most of the time not worth the time increase and material waste, but in niche cases it's nice to have), Bambu's AMS is definitely a more "mature" system, but from what I have gathered the Centauri Carbon 2's multi material unit works just fine too. Or spend a bit extra and just get a P1S or even P2S, though not sure if you would want to spend that much just to see if you like the hobby. Any modern mainstream machine will be beginner friendly at this point tbh, FDM printers have come a long way, most recent ones "just work" at this point.

Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Vs Bambu Lab P1S: Which One Would I Choose?

The Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 is presented as a well-priced, fully enclosed Core XY machine with identical print quality and speed to the P1S, featuring a vibrant touchscreen and an included multi-material Canvas system.

Purchase Advice Megathread - April 2026

Enclosed and claims to take care of air circulation and fumes They're lying. Single-pass filtration has been proven inadequate for eliminating VOCs from 3D printing, and their chamber doesn't establish a hermetic seal. It'll probably reduce smells some, but more likely they just added a HEPA filter to tick a marketing box Centauri Carbon 2 Combo - Seems to check all my boxes and even with the ACE Pro Do you have this mixed up with an Anycubic? Elegoo's system is called CANVAS, and it's not an add-on. That said, Elegoo printers are easily the loudest of the ones you've posted. I don't run mine while I'm in the office with it is that the same case with FDM printers or am I overreacting The science isn't settled, but the more it's studied, the more carcinogenic it appears FDM emissions are. Best to err on the side of safety if you're concerned. I think your humidity situation might make the bedslingers untenable (which is sad because I think the A1 and Kobra X are the best printers on your list) as well as the Centauri Carbon 2, which holds spools in the open air -- but with the Kobra X at least, you could get a Sunlu Filadryer S4 and print from that (tho it's an extra cost and complication.) Of course you could get a dryer and then seal your spools in cereal boxes with some dessicant (like a lot of us do) for cheaper You might also check out either the Qidi Q2 or the Qidi Q2C

Which workhorse would you buy for a small farm? I'm concerned with Bambu locking down

I have three cc1 and a cc2, haven’t had any issues in thousands of hours of prints and I don’t think parts are difficult To get BUT I’ve not had any issues with it I’ve needed parts for. It has the same quality control issues other printers have with small numbers seeming to be poor quality but all mine work perfectly, never let me down and are great quality.
