Bambu A1 vs Creality Hi

Honestly, coming from an Ender 3 S1 where you’ve mostly had issues, I’d lean toward the A1. The big difference is how much you want to tinker vs just print. The A1 is way more “it just works” out of the box. Auto calibration, good profiles, less time messing with settings. The Hi is cheaper and more open, but it’s still more in that Creality ecosystem where you might end up tweaking stuff more than you want. Since you said reliability matters and you’re not really into multicolor, the A1 (even non-combo) probably makes more sense. The AMS is nice for convenience, but yeah, it can be wasteful. K1C is solid too, but yeah the smaller build volume is a real tradeoff depending on what you print. Trying to avoid a cat-astrophe. Looking for advice.

Any chance you can swing the P1S instead? ~$399. I have two K1Cs, a K2, six P1S, 2 X1C, a P2S and a Sovol SV08 Max. for background. The P1S is hands down a more stable 3d printer compared to a K1C. All printers can have problems, even Bambus, but the frequency and difficulty of the problems my P1S' encounter are far easier to deal with. The K1C are simply more problematic overall and require contacting support far more often. They are still lightyears better than an Ender 3 but still not the level of a Bambu.

Is it really that bad?

I started with a Creality CR6-SE and have moved on to a K1C and I've had virtually no problems. The K1C is great - easy to use, rarely screws up (aside from my own mistakes) and does what I want it to, fast. No idea why there's so much anti-Creality feeling around, but I've had no issues.
