What are your thoughts on the CR6-SE?

It depends, quality and easy of use wise it is definitely worth the money. The downside to the printer is a lot of the upgrading is limited and it has funky firmware issues. It depends, quality and easy of use wise it is definitely worth the money. Just the big upgrades you would want to do to the ender 3 like the ABL, silent board, filament runout are going to cost you close to the difference anyways. The ABL system here is much better than the others as well especially with the hard mounted bed. The dual z only really helps on taller prints. Anything shorter than 100mm and your not going to notice a huge issue with a single Z system but the higher you go the more commonly you might end up with issues but it really is only an issue on the largest prints. The thing is those are the prints that can take multiple days and a massive amount of filament and time is wasted if they fail at the end which is why people prefer dual z so much. The downside to the printer is a lot of the upgrading is limited. For example putting a different hotend on it is going to be tricky with the mounting system for the abl. It looks like a v6 hotend might be doable though. I don't really plan on printing with anything that needs over 260 so it really isn't a huge issue for me but that and the funky firmware issues at the moment are really the only downsides.

Is CR-6 SE a good deal for $250?

it has run like a champ without stop. My second CR-6 SE... also runs like a champ and produces great prints. So, at $250 that's a steal. I own two CR-6 SE. My first one is about 1.5 years old and I haven't updated anything on it. I assembled it, replaced the stock PFTE tube with Capricorn PFTE, added OctoPi on a Raspberry Pi 4, and it has run like a champ without stop. My second CR-6 SE got a Micro Swiss Bowden Dual Gear Extruder, all Metal Hotend, and Capricorn PFTE. It also runs like a champ and produces great prints. So, at $250 that's a steal.

First Impressions with the Artisan

The build for me was also very easy and well done. I didn’t have any of those calibration issues and my language was properly set when I booted it up. I did end up having a Y module go bad, but support replaced it in like 5 days. The QC seems to be middling on these, but the support is very responsive. I will say you should just throw away the filament it comes with because it makes calibration extremely difficult as it’s of low quality. The first thing you should do is calibrate your e steps after doing the initial printer calibration as mine was over extruding by a lot. The dual extruder requires lots of calibration, but that’s to be expect considering the variation in both setup and environment. I agreed the textured build plate is not the best, but it works so far. I plan on writing up a guide/first impressions on the forum on this weekend.
