3D Printer for hobby - smart move or expensive dust collector ?

Flashforge works great out of the box kinda a smaller build area but not very often do you need it. The creality hi is also a great printer the slicer sucks with it. It tries its best to be a Bambu clone but it's also a 1/3rd of the price. I picked one up on eBay for 120 refurbished from creality's eBay store and besides the screen protector being glued onto the screen and being a pain in the ass to remove the residue. That's been my best deal printer purchase yet. The flashforge printers I have to me are easier to use and print a lot faster but they are also a lot noisier and the only printer I keep going overnight as it's quiet enough is the creality hi. Unless I'm printing taller parts all taller parts go on the coreXY flashforge's because the bed doesn't move back and forth. An less likelihood off a print failure.

Is the Creality Hi a Good Beginner Multicolor Printer?

There are a few emotionally charged comments here, so I’ll try to break down your options as objectively as I can: Bambulab A1: The most popular option in this category. Very reliable, decent customer support, good availability of spare parts, easy to swap nozzles. The multicolor system works decently but feels cheap, especially compared to the Creality option. Reputation for not being open source friendly; recently severely limited the remote functionality of their printers if you decide to use one of the most popular community-made open source slicers, Orcaslicer. Creality Hi: Basically an A1 clone. Prints just as well as the A1. Spare parts are a bit harder to get your hands on compared to the A1 and nozzle swaps aren’t as convenient. Newer and less popular so there aren’t as many resources if you run into issues. Multicolor system is much better built and convenient to load/unload and do maintenance on than the A1, and it’s fully enclosed to prevent moisture from getting into your filament. Creality has a reputation for bad customer support though. Flashforge Adventurer AD5x: Even more obscure than the other two, but unlike them, this one is compatible with flexible filaments on the multicolor system. Don’t know much about it other than that. Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo: CoreXY option with a built in filament dryer. I’ve heard some issues with clogs and general reliability but other than that it seems to be decent. Elegoo Centauri Carbon*: They’ve promised a multicolor system by Q3 of this year so if you’re buying on Christmas, it’s something to look out for. As a standalone printer this thing’s value is an anomaly — priced like an A1, prints like a P1S and compatible with engineering filament like the X1C. We still have no idea what the catch is.
